GENERAL

NAME: Sofia Valentina Delgado
NICKNAMES: Few can get away with Sofie.
AGE/DOB: 18/September 2nd
BLOOD STATUS: Half-blood
GENDER/PRONOUNS: Female, She/Her
SEXUALITY: Bisexual
HOMETOWN: River North, Chicago, IL

CONCEPT: Emotionally stunted teenager attempting to survive her senior year.

PHYSICAL

APPEARANCE: Everything about Sofia basically screams 'posh rich girl'. When she's not in her uniform, she usually prefers expensive designer clothes that look like they were made for her body specifically. She's always very aware of her appearance and makes sure she looks pristine, not that she even needs to try. Since the ghostly mess during year 1, she has learned to just allow herself to dress more comfortable on days where her mind can't concentrate on the effort to make herself look perfect. Has black hair, brown eyes, and is short as hell.
Posh vs Casual
HEIGHT: 5'1"

PB: Camila Mendes

PERSONALITY

LIKES: sarcasm, flirting, casual sex, cheering, expensive things, parties, getting her way, being spoiled, clothes, shiny things, peonies, potions, painting, dancing, singing, running, quidditch, disobeying her parents, traveling, no-maj technology, make-up, drinking, smoking.

DISLIKES: bitchy ghosts, vomit, being told no, trashy people, fake jewelry, people who make others miserable for no reason, being asked stupid questions, chocolates in a heart-shaped box, roses, losing.

PERSONALITY:

Sofia doesn't exactly classify as your typical mean girl. Unless you've done something to deserve her wrath, she doesn't really take pleasure in bullying her peers. However, she does take pleasure in revenge, and you can bet your ass her plan will be impeccable so that you'll never even see it coming.

She enjoys messing with with boys and girls who pursue her sexually, mostly by way of cat and mouse games, and she loves casually flirting with just about anyone of the human race. Even her teachers aren't safe from a wink or a compliment.

It really irks her when she doesn't get her own way and she's not below using money or her body to sway someones decision, though she doesn't quite give up the latter as easily as some would think. Most could say that she's their friend, but there's only a very select few who she keeps close and would never intentionally hurt. Anyone else could be manipulated if she needed something from them and it's unlikely she'd feel bad about it. She knows you have to be aggressive to survive high school and she's not about to let anyone take her down.

Her first few years at Gooseberry she was a borderline adrenaline junkie, seeing how far she could take things before she'd get caught or hurt. If you wouldn't jump out of the airplane first, she would. Now she's slightly more reserved after the ghost fiasco that happened at the end of junior year, but she tries to act normal and still maintains the attitude, "anything you can do, I can do better!", challenging herself even when someone else hasn't.

During the summer, she took up smoking and drinking more to distract herself from her worries, and is especially overprotective of Ramon after he was kidnapped. Sometimes her hands are shaky and she can be a bit jittery if she isn't distracted, which would seem very out of character to anyone who knows her well. She's keeping her lips sealed about her problems though, both for Ramon's sake and because she refuses to let anyone see her as weak.

She has a lot of trouble sleeping now, so when she's having a particularly bad morning, she wears more casual clothing and can look like a complete bum in comparison to her usual expensive attire. She's just so jittery that she just can't be bothered to fuss over her appearance, though the worrying still lingers in the back of her mind throughout the day.

SKILLS

LANGUAGES SPOKEN: English and Spanish were taught together while she was growing up, so she is fluent in both. She's picked up some Bulgarian just to know what Iliyah is mumbling about at times, and could get by in French if she had to.

PATRONUS: She currently can't cast one.

SKILLS:
Dancing - She's taken some classes, done cheering, and been dancing with friends at Gooseberry since she arrived. It's one of her biggest passions.
Potions - Something she's just always had a knack for. She likes experimenting and seeing what she can come up with or what they'll have her do next in class. A possible career choice for her.
Quidditch - Impressed many when she showed what a fast learner she was. She takes it a lot more seriously now than she did when she first started, even entertaining the idea of playing beater professionally.
Archery - It helps her unwind to shoot things.
Singing - She's good at it, but she doesn't take it as seriously as dance or quidditch. Prefers just showing off in choir.
Animagus - Though she hasn't quite completed her transformation yet, it'll be something she's very proud of and count as a huge achievement.

HISTORY

FAMILY MEMBERS:

Nick Delgado: Father, MACUSA Representative from Illinois. He can be pretty chill when he's not in politician mode. Sofia gets along with him best.
Estella Delgado: Mother, former model. She's got 'politician's wife' written all over her. Sofia can't stand being in the same room with her anymore because she's always a giant wench and trying to dictate her life.
Ramon Delgado: Brother, Junior Ribbonfin. He's a pain in her butt, all siblings are, but she's trying to be an even better big sister to him after he was kidnapped at the end of year 1.

HISTORY:

Born into a political family with immense wealth, Sofia and Ramon Delgado never knew what it was like to go without. Anything they could ever want and dream of, if it had a price tag or could be bought, it was theirs. People often wondered if they were twins because they were so close, never going anywhere without the other close by, but Sofia was the eldest of the two children, and the first to go to a wizarding school.

That first year away from home changed everything for her. She learned at Wolf Point (A prestigious K-12 school located in the heart of Chicago, Illinois. It's known for having a very credible and talented staff, but because they mainly cater to the elite rich, it's very hard to get into without the right connections. The locals tend to go home at the end of the day, but boarding is available to anyone.) that she couldn't get everything she wanted anymore and that most of the other kids were little jerks, so she spent a lot of time to herself, quietly observing what they were doing. By the end of the year she had built up her confidence again and was aggressively making friends, mainly by way of intimidation. When it was Ramon's turn to join her the following year, Sofia wasn't interested in hanging out with her little brother anymore. She had her own thing going and couldn't be bothered to show him the ropes.

With her father's reputation quickly climbing in the world of wizarding politics, so did hers. She and Ramon were considered famous now and everyone wanted to rub shoulders with with someone important. The attention started going to Sofia's head and she became much more of a snob, selectively choosing who was rich and beautiful enough to be seen with her. She also began to get in trouble more, especially for mouthing off. When she was home, she and her mother would butt heads, forcing her father and brother to break up their fights.

When her parents finally decided to send her to Gooseberry (donating quite a bit of money to even get her in) she thought it was punishment for how she'd been acting. This was partially true. They wanted her to get away from the city, start over and hopefully wise up. Her mother had actually wanted to send her to a finishing school but her father was much more lenient than that. He'd always been practically wrapped around Sofia's finger, but she couldn't sway him to change his mind this time.

At first, Gooseberry was a nightmare to a girl used to high society living. There were too many trees and she half expected woodland creatures to show up and start talking to her. It grew on her over time, though. She'd jog around the school grounds when she was bored, sometimes going off the paths to explore and see if there was anything worth discovering. It mostly got her lost, but she liked the thrill of it. She even joined the Azurcrest cheering squad and basked in all of the attention it brought her. Boys and girls alike would ask her to date them, and she usually tried for a little while to be a good girlfriend, but it'd always end with her losing interest and moving on to the next flavor of the week. She prefers casual encounters now.

During her sophomore year, she traded cheering for a spot on the quidditch team. No one had actually expected her to make it, especially as a beater. People said she was much too small and too girly, which only made her more determined to prove them all wrong. And prove them wrong she did. Her upper body strength could have been better, this she knew, but it had been enough to impress the team and get her the beater position. Her mother was absolutely furious when she learned what she'd done. She considered quidditch "barbaric" and not a sport for a lady of her stature to take part in. This only made Sofia want to play more.

Junior year was the scariest. Ramon was kidnapped by Anon, and she was horrified she'd never see him again and that her mother would legitimately murder her. She sucked it up and trudged through scary caves, woods, and even interactions with ghosts until she finally found him. She hasn't let him very far from her ever since. If it were up to her, neither of them would go back to Gooseberry ever again, but her mother thinks they were never in any REAL danger and she'll never let her little brother go back alone.

Now in her senior year, Sofia's trying to hide how worried she is about graduating in the future. She entertains the idea of dancing, pro-quidditch, or becoming a potioneer, but she can't settle on one thing and it frustrates her. Her mother would like nothing more than for her to marry someone important and become someone's arm candy, and her father prods her about politics and possibly getting an internship. Both are the farthest thing from what she could tolerate in this point of her life, she wants to make her own name for herself. If she has to play dirty to get there someday, she can at least say that she did it her own way.

SCHOOL

YEAR: Senior (Grade 12)
HOUSE: Azurcrest. Went to Wolf Point Academy before GB.
SORTING: Sofia won't even lie, she totally went with Azurcrest based on the color scheme alone. She fits well into the house, though. She like a good party, she can be enthusiastic and a good motivator, and flighty would probably describe her love life. Coppertale still fought hard to sway her to their side but she wasn't having any of that.
WAND: 9½ maple with a thunderbird feather core, sturdy.
FAMILIAR: A green eyed, black cat named Freya.

CLASSES: History of Magic, Transfiguration, Potions, Charms, Astronomy, Aesthetic Magic.
ADVANCED STUDY: Animagus Studies (black cat). Aside from it obviously being cool to turn into an animal, she chose to join the class so she'd have an escape plan if she were ever to get into serious trouble. I mean, she IS someone of great importance ;) She also looks quite a lot like her own cat when she transforms, but Sofia is a little smaller and has gold eyes.
SENIOR PROJECT: Possibly performance/dance that shows the crap that she went through at the end of last year.
ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE: Sofia finds history related classes to be the most difficult to keep up with. They usually bore her so much that she can't focus or retain the information given to her. Mr. Merrill is entertaining enough that she hasn't fallen asleep during his class, but she still has trouble trying to remember what he's talked about, possibly because it just doesn't interest her. She's also having some trouble trying to achieve her Animagus form, which she finds frustrating and unexpected since she enjoys and does fairly well in Transfiguration. Her favorite class would have to be Potions, though. Transfiguration comes in as a close second, but Potions is where she excels most. She loves seeing what concoctions they'll have her brew up next and thinks there's a possible career for her there.

EXTRACURRICULARS: Quidditch (beater), Archery, Choir, Equestrian, and takes advantage of the dance studio whenever she can.
